In addition to being an accomplished musician, Daniel Long has become inspired to combine his personal love of the arts, rhythm and movement and his professional background in education and mentoring. Daniel is currently a visual and performing artist, educator and facilitator of interactive rhythm events.
He is proud to be a VSA ArtPartner for the third year in a row, a teaching artist with Fresh Air Family, an integrated arts educator with The Cultural Alliance of Birmingham and Birmingham City Schools, a representative of ArtWorks Alabama (under direction of community artist and organizer Laurie Alfano Kramer) and a new member of the Get Rhythm! team.
Claudia Lewis is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. She holds a baccalaureate degree (BM) in Music Therapy from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa. Lewis is also a Music Department graduate of the Alabama School of Fine Arts.
At present, Lewis possesses a career as Program Manager and board-certified Music Therapist for VSA Arts of Alabama—The State Organization on Arts and Disability. She is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), and affords Music Therapy services throughout the City of Birmingham and surrounding areas. Lewis utilizes music’s unique neurological effects on the brain to address clients’ physical, cognitive, psychosocial, and communicative needs by designing appropriate interventions to meet specific, nonmusical treatment goals.
In addition to VSA, Lewis serves as a freelance flute, guitar, piano, and percussion performer. Lewis also serves as Minister of Music at a local United Methodist Church, and functions as a background vocalist/vocal coach, stenographer, keyboardist, flutist, and percussionist for a nationally-distributed record label.
Lewis resides in Birmingham, Alabama; is married to her husband of 11 ½ years—Min. Robert Lewis, III; and is the mother of 6 energetic children.
